2023 Grants Awarded

2023 was another exciting year for the Maine Lighthouse Trust as it was the first year we opened our grant application window.  After receiving all submissions, our executive board reviewed and assessed the proposals based on their feasibility, potential impact, and alignment with the trust's mission.

The Maine Lighthouse Trust’s mission is to award annual grants from the funds it receives from those who purchase the lighthouse specialty license plate.  The Maine Lighthouse Trust awarded over $70,000 in grants in 2023. 

In 2023, the grant recipients were chosen by the Executive Board of the Trust and awarded to Maine’s lighthouse community.  

The 2023 grant recipients include: 

  • Friends of Swan’s Island Lighthouse – which will use the funds to replace the keepers house roof.

  • Eagle Light Caretakers – to restore tower interior stairs/ladder.

  • Citizens for Squirrel Point Light – for access bridge replacement.

  • Friends of the Doubling Point Light – replacement of lighthouse access walkway.

 Thank you to the Mainers who purchased the new lighthouse specialty license plate.  You should be proud knowing that your contribution is making a difference in Maine’s lighthouse community.
